Sustainability Education Initiative
"Pink Slime" is quickly becoming a national concern for fast food companies as well as public school lunch providers. The pressure is on as parents and community members get educated and outraged at the quality of meat served to our children. The often used product known as "Pink Slime", is byproduct ammonia hydroxide treated ground lean meat. The product is often used as a "filler" to lessen the overall cost of a meat product sold in food chains and school lunches.
Petitions are an effective tool to send a message inspiring policy changes in our country. Currently banning “pink slime” from lunch rooms is up to individual school districts. Meaning, unless you live in a district that feels strongly against serving your children pink slime and has already banned the product, it may still be in your school lunch!
The featured petition urges the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) to create a federal mandate that prohibits the use of Pink Slime in school lunch programs across the country. Take a stand and help kick Pink Slime out of school lunches! Sign Petition Here
