On February 16, 2012, as part of its Community Arts Outreach Program, Cambodian Living Arts (CLA) organized Classical Wedding Music and Kantaoming (funeral music) demonstrations at the Krosaing Roloeung Primary School neat Wat Atwea, Siem Reap Province, in North-West Cambodia. 222 students and 8 teachers from the school attended the demonstration and showed enthusiasm and interest. As a result of this success, 60 students from the school have joined CLA’s Classical Wedding Music or Kantaoming classes.

General Overview
The Marion Institute (MI) (www.marioninstitute.org) seeks a Fundraising Professional to join the Executive Director and MI team. We are looking for a person who is excited by the prospect of leading and managing all aspects of MI’s fundraising.
Founded in 1993, the Marion Institute is a non-profit that acts as an incubator for a diverse array of Programs and Serendipity Projects that delve into the root cause of an issue and seeks to create deep and positive change. We work with individuals, schools and communities to inspire change in the areas of health and healing, sustainability, green economics, environmental education, spirituality and much more.
We are a nearly $2 million/year organization staffed by a team of approximately 30 employees, aided by hundreds of volunteers and supported by thousands of donors. We currently have seven Programs and over twelve Serendipity Projects.
Working closely with the Executive Director and the Board, the Fundraising Professional will be responsible for shaping and executing the overall MI approach to generating financial support. This will involve building on an existing successful foundation as well as bringing a fresh perspective to the task of setting priorities and implementing specific aspects of the fundraising strategy. This would include MI’s annual appeal, targeted major donor appeals, web based fundraising, special events for constituency/membership development and cultivation, foundation and government grants, corporate gifts, leadership on all special fundraising efforts and the development of a planned giving program.
The MI’s fundraising needs relate primarily to operational support and include some special projects. In addition, the MI seeks to create an endowment to support its ongoing activities.
The job requires the following: an annual fundraising strategy and calendar, special fundraising projects such as capital campaigns, challenge grants, planned giving development, grant writing and reporting, prospect identification and cultivation, event planning and implementation, communication expertise, database management and the annual appeal. There will be close coordination and work with members of the Board, including individual major donor solicitations and follow up. The MI is currently looking at the possibility of an increased presence on the internet including fundraising. There will be a part time staff member to assist you in database management.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate has at least 4-6 years of fundraising experience and has a proven record in all areas of fundraising including individual, corporate, foundation and government giving as well as managing special events. The position reports directly to the ED however the MI operates very much as a team; including the staff, board and broader community. Every team member is passionate about the organization and its work in the world, a basic qualification for the position along with a proven fundraising ability.
Qualifications required are:
• Highly organized and energetic and is fearless about approaching donors one-on-one.
• Excellent writing and interpersonal skills, as well as a firm knowledge of Raisers Edge are essential.
• Proven experience in working closely with Board of Directors and with a staff team.
• An entrepreneurial approach to building and guiding a development program and the ability to reach out to all our various constituencies to promote the mission of MI.
• A supportive and accessible management style, the ability to lead and motivate staff and to encourage growth in both people and programs and a commitment to ongoing professional development.
• Superior communication skills, with the ability to summarize information and connect with a variety of audiences; clarity and persuasiveness in written and oral communications; and a high comfort level with current electronic media.
• Knowledge of non-profit financial budgeting and planning.
• Willingness to be flexible in terms of work hours.
• Bachelor’s degree.
• Working knowledge of Blackbaud’s Raisers Edge.
• Willingness to relocate if necessary.
• Major donor experience.
• Proven internet fundraising.
• Works well under pressure.
Compensation
Salary commensurate with experience.

Rev. Cynthia Brix is an interfaith minister and Co-Director of Satyana Institute. Cynthia is co-director of the Gender Reconciliation International project, and co-founder of the Women’s Spiritual Mastery project. She was formerly a campus minister at the University of Colorado for United Ministries of Higher Education, and she led meditation workshops at regional and national Unitarian Universalist conferences. Cynthia co-chaired the Race Relations Committee for the City of Muncie, Indiana, and later initiated an interfaith project to address racial tensions at the University of Colorado-Boulder. She is a long-time student of Eknath Easwaran’s Passage Meditation. She earned her master’s of divinity from Iliff School of Theology (2006) and her master’s degree in wellness management and applied gerontology from Ball State University (1999). Cynthia is contributing author of Divine Duality: The Power of Reconciliation between Women and Men (Hohm Press, 2007), and co-author of Women Healing Women (Hohm Press, 2009).
William Keepin is co-founder and Co-Director of Satyana Institute. Will founded the Gender Reconciliation International project (also called Power of Reconciliation), which has organized more than 75 intensive gatherings in seven countries for healing and reconciliation between women and men. A mathematical physicist with thirty scientific publications on sustainable energy and global warming, he presented testimony to European and Australian parliaments and the US House of Representatives, and became a whistleblower in nuclear science policy. Will began practicing silent meditation in 1982, trained extensively in spiritual traditions East and West, holds an M.A. degree in East-West psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies, and has facilitated Holotropic Breathwork for 20 years (Grof Transpersonal Training). He is a Fellow of the Findhorn Foundation. Will is author of Divine Duality: The Power of Reconciliation between Women and Men (Hohm Press, 2007), co-author of Women Healing Women (Hohm Press, 2009), and his new book is “Song of the Earth: The Emerging Synthesis of Spiritual and Scientific Worldviews” (Permanent Publications, London, UK, 2012).
